These are two of the documents that will be given during home visits or dropped off if I was not able to meet with you.

Introduction Letter:
Dear Family and Friends,
My name is Brianna Harper and I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher! I am so excited to get to know you and your child this year. I would like to take this time to introduce myself. I currently live in Shelbyville, KY with my husband and two cats. I graduated from Transylvania University in 2013 with a Psychology degree and University of Louisville in 2014 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I am currently pursuing my Rank I as a Literacy Specialist through the University of the Cumberlands. I have taught two years in first grade in Carroll County and this will be my first year in kindergarten.
Some important notes about your child’s new classroom:
            1. Our classroom is in a module classroom which means we are not in the building with the other classrooms. The other kindergarten classroom is attached to our classroom.
            2. We will have flexible seating which means there are not many tables and chairs. Instead we have bean bags, a futon, cushions, and other comfy seats. I strongly believe this will help students stay focused and feel comfortable in our classroom.
            3. This is your child’s classroom, not mine. When you walk in our room for the first time you will notice everything is within a child’s reach. This is the place your child comes to learn and have fun.
            4. Each child will have his/her own cubbie. Your child will have this space for his/her backpack, lunchbox, book box, coat, etc. Your child can even decorate this space to make it his/her own.

            Important dates:
            1. August 7- Open House at 5:30 for Kindergarten. Visit your child’s classroom, drop off school supplies, talk with the teacher, etc.
            2. August 9- First Day of School. Students may enter the building at 7:45 a.m. School begins at 8:00a.m.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email me anytime.
I look forward to working with you this year!

                                                                                                Sincerely,
                                                                                                Brianna Harper

Flexible Seating Letter:
Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing to inform you of the exciting seating in your child’s classroom. We will incorporate flexible seating. This means that when students are working they will have the freedom to find comfortable spaces around the room to work. They might be kneeling, standing, sitting, working on carpet squares, leaning on a pillow with a clipboard, sitting at a desk with an exercise ball, or wobble stool. There are many possibilities of what this can look like in a classroom. Research shows that students can focus and do their best work when they are comfortable. Classrooms across the nation are changing the way student workspaces look, for the better! Our classroom has been funded by DonorsChoose and the * items will arrive after August 5.
In our classroom, we have:
1. One futon
2. Two rectangle tables with chairs
3. Two kidney tables
4. One small round table with chairs
5. Two pillow beds
6. Five stools*
7. One saucer chair
8. Six individual crate seats
9. One crate bench with body pillow
10. Six wobble seats*
11. One bean bag
12. Two square cushions
13. 20 round cushions
14. One bungie chair*
15. Twelve individual carpet squares*
16. Area rug*
17. Inflatable chair*
18. Balance Ball*
