What We Are Learning: January 2-January 5

Google Slides (updated daily) KinderOwls Monday: No School Shared Reading: Read I'm a Little Snowflake. Standard: RF.K.4- Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding. Reading: I can read harder books by using all the strategies I know. I can check if my reading makes sense. I can sound out words using the phonics dance. Standards: RF.K.3- Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. RF.K.2d- Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in words. RF.K3a- Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant. Shared Reading- October 16-October 20

This week in shared reading we chorally read Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? Then we acted the story out. There are two videos so all students could have a turn. I apologize that it's not facing the right way. Second Video    First Video

What We Are Learning- October 23-October 27

Shared Reading: Monday: Read Five Little Pumpkins to students. Tuesday-Thursday: Chorally read Five Little Pumpkins together. Friday: Act out Five Little Pumpkins. Reading: Monday:  GQ: What are characters?   Learning Target: I can name characters from my story.   Teacher's choice on fall book. After reading the book, talk about the characters. Who was in the story?    Students will choose their favorite character to draw in their Reading notebook. Allow time to share with a partner.   During Guided Reading, students should focus on the characters in their stories. Come back to the carpet and share characters . Tuesday:  GQ: What is setting?   Learning Target: I can name the setting in my story.   Teacher's choice on fall book. After reading the book, talk about the setting. Where did the story take place?   Students will go back to their character page and add in pictures to show the setting. If there isn't enough room, they can use a new page. A

Monday, September 25: Shared Reading: This week we will be reading Three Billy Goats Gruff. We will read and reread the book. We will make predictions. We will retell the story. Reading: I can read with expression to sound like an expert. We will read and reread non-fiction books to sound like experts. Word Study: I can read and write sight words from List 1. We will review the List 1 sight words and write with chalk outside. I can name the sound the letter Tt makes. We will also sort pictures that begin with Tt and pictures that do not. Social Studies: I can identify how a person helps my community. We will read Community Helper What Do you See? We will discuss how a person helps our community. Writing: I can plan my writing for a book. We will finish our books. Math: Unit 1 Assessment. Monday, September 18: Shared Reading: This week, we are focusing on alliteration. We will choral read alliteration poems and notice the words with the same beginning sound. Reading: I can think about what I see in the pictures of my book to learn more. We will look at the pictures in non-fiction books to learn more. Guided Reading: Small groups will begin this week. Students will receive individualized instruction based on reading assessments. Word Study: I can read and write the sight word you. I can name the sound of the letter Ss. We will learn the sight word YOU by reading a poem and building the word with playdoh and magnetic letters. We will also learn the sound Ss makes by sorting pictures that make the Ss sound and pictures that do not make the Ss sound. Social Studies: I can identify how a person helps our community.
